Seasonal Produce: Spring Edition

Eating seasonally this spring is a blooming brilliant way to enjoy a wide variety of flavours, textures, and nutrients while also supporting local farmers and reducing your carbon footprint. Vegetables in the UK are a fantastic way to enjoy fresh, locally grown produce throughout the year, and you also have fruit and seasonings to give your meals that extra oomph.

Benefits of Seasonal Vegetables in the UK
Better Taste:
Seasonal vegetables are picked at their peak of ripeness, meaning they are more flavourful and have better texture than vegetables that are picked before they’re fully ripe and transported long distances.
Nutritional Value:
Produce in season is more nutrient-dense because it’s fresher and has less time to lose its vitamins and minerals.
Cost:
In season crops are usually less expensive because they are abundant and don’t require long distance transportation or storage for long periods.
Environmental Impact:
Eating seasonal goods reduces your carbon footprint because they don’t need to be transported by fossil fuelled vehicles and do not require the use of energy for storage.
